Why Soup?

Its winter. Its cold and flu season once again. COVID is running its course. Soooooooooooooooo…..

Why Soup?

Soup is awesome for many reasons and today we are going to discuss why soup. During the winter time soup becomes more prevalent, and is consumed heavier then the summer months. Soup season begins when you start feeling colder due to the weather and some nice warm broth is just what the body needed. Drinking cold water during exercise can help  from overheating, drinking room temperature water with food can help with better digestion, drinking warm water can increase the body temperature and thin out our mucus. It’s not rocket science, people have been enjoying warm broth, coffee, and hot coco during the winter time for years and they may not have realized that it wasn’t just a taste bud driven reason.

Awesome, soup can up our body temperature what else can it do? Soup can help with digestion. It’s liquid food for the most part. The body does not have to work as hard to break down soup and unlock all its nutriments as it would if you feed it chicken and broccoli. It may not be more nutritious than other whole food combinations but its nutrients are more readily bioavailable. When you are sick your body is run down, help it by giving it fuel that it doesn’t have to work hard on for digestion you are setting your self up for the best possible outcome.
